We seek a dynamic and progressive chief editor for Goal Italy who will manage the day-to-day operations of the website. This is a key position within the Goal network and we are looking for someone with a deep knowledge of editorial, video, social and SEO strategy who will have a crucial role in the growth of the world’s biggest football website and our OTT streaming service, DAZN. The Goal Italy chief editor will drive consistency in workflows and structure and deliver a high standard of coverage by developing and communicating a clear strategy.

HERE’S YOUR ROLE BROKEN DOWN (NOT ALL OF IT, JUST THE MOST IMPORTANT STUFF)

• Manage and oversee growth of Goal Italy by developing a clear and concrete strategy, focusing on editorial, SEO, video and social media.
• Maximise our relationship with DAZN to drive free trials and subscriptions to the OTT service from Goal. Ensure all highlights and any other DAZN content is given the necessary promotion and prominence across Goal channels. Work closely with DAZN to align on interview opportunities and player access.
• Co-ordinate all output planning. Analyse traffic results and reports to help inform editorial decision-making. Manage the editorial tasks, workflows, budgeting and payments within pre-approved monthly budget.
• Coordinate, develop and implement content in collaboration with the Goal editorial team locally and with the other regional and worldwide reporters and editions.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to maximise opportunities. Maintain contact with PRs, attend meetings and represent Goal at key editorial events.
• Meet agreed traffic targets for UUs, PVs, video streams, App visits, social engagement and DAZN sign-ups on various platforms.

DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?

• Minimum seven years of journalistic experience, including online
• Fluent in Italian both written and spoken, and proficient in English
• Excellent news sense and journalistic instinct, with expertise in Italian and world football
• Proven management proficiency and knowledge
• Demonstrable experience and understanding of video, SEO and social strategy
• Strong communication skills, ability to manage remote teams
