General Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) Communication Consultant (Coordination)

Coastal Fisheries initiative (CFI) Communication Consultant (Coordination)

Provide overall communication support (media, web/social media, publications, outreach/campaigns, etc) to various branches and teams;
-
Provide overall communication support to focal points for the technical departments;
-
Support coordination between OCC and FAO’s Regional Offices and Liaison Offices;
-
Identify strong FAO stories to promote with journalists or media outlets
-
Support the implementation of media/communication partnerships between FAO and external parties;
-
Prepare talking points, media briefs, news background briefs, speeches, Q&A, presentations and other communication products for management;
-
Ability to communicate importance of fisheries issues and to connect them to broader development issues
-
Perform other duties as required.

Advanced University Degree (for consultants)/ University degree (for PSAs) in communication, journalism, political science or related subject.

One year (Category C consultant/PSA) or five years (Category B consultant/PSA) of relevant experience in communication, public information, or journalism

For the GFCM Communication, working knowledge of English and French (Level C) is desirable and a limited knowledge (Level B) of Spanish or Arabic would be an asset (for consultants). For the CFI Communication, working knowledge of English and French (Level C) is desirable and a limited knowledge (Level B) of Spanish would be an asset (for consultants). For both position, working knowledge (Level C) of one of FAO’s official languages. Level B of another official language is desirable (for PSAs).
