United Nations Development Programme – Communication Intern -Roma

To deliver the above outputs, the ACSD team would require the support of the intern with the following tasks:

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and knowledge building through assisting in the maintenance of the ACSD website and database with relevant and up-to-date information;
  • Provide assistance to team to ensure global campaigns follow up and support, and audience engagement on Social media platforms;
  • Assist in providing administrative and logistics support in the organization of events;
  • Support to maintain an active social media presence and coverage of all events hosted, attended or relevant to stakeholders;
  • Help the team developing communication materials including brochures, pagers, project briefs, booklets, reports etc;
  • Provide support to outreach to communities of stakeholders through newsletter highlighting the work of the Centre and promoting curated news, information, events and more;
  • Support to the team to review and edit web stories, headlines and captions, liaising with the rest of the team to ensure consistency across languages;
  • Assist in reviewing translations in English, proofreading and reformulating if necessary, for optimal web presentation;
  • Support to the team to coordinate with counterparts on outreach and marketing activities relevant to the Partnership Portfolio Management team’s work;
  • Support the team with other relevant tasks.

Competencies

  • Computer proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Experience in research, identification of target audiences and stakeholders analysis;
  • Social media management experience;
  • Basic understanding of usability, optimizing content for the web and search;
  • Ability to tailor language, style and format to match the audience;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and be aware of political sensitivities;
  • Capacity to meet deadlines a, work in stressful situation and detailed oriented;
  • Demonstrates commitment to UNDP mission, vision and values.

Language and additional skills:

  • Working knowledge of spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN working language is considered an asset.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to contribute;

Required Skills and Experience

Education: Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • currently in the final year of a bachelor’s degree; or
  • currently enrolled in a master’s degree; or
  • have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies.

Field of study: Education in a relevant area such as media studies, journalism, political sciences or related field
